Right Touch, Wrong Touch
Dear children
Know your body and be sensitive towards wrong touch and right touch. Your body is your own and no one should touch you, if you do not like it. So, let's find out the difference between right touch and wrong touch.
Right touch is:
When your mamma and papa hug you and kiss you, you feel warm, nice and safe.
When your brother or sister hugs you and plays with you.
When your grandpa and grandma hug you lovingly and make you sit on their lap.
When your uncles and aunts give you a hug when they meet you.
When your good friends put their hands on your shoulder or hug you to show their friendship.
Wrong touch is:
If the touching hurts you.
If someone's touching makes you feel uncomfortable,
If someone keeps on touching even when you ask him/her to stop it
If someone's touch makes you afraid and you want to run away from the person.
If you are touched at some part of your body where you do not like to be touched.
If anyone forces you to touch him/her.
If someone touches you and then asks you to keep it a secret. The person may also threaten to hurt you or your family members.
Call for help, if need be. You can scream as loud as you want, no matter where you are!
Parents and Teachers
Discuss with the children what they should do if someone touches them inappropriately Reassure the children that it is OK to say NO to anyone who frightens them with requests that are wrong.
Let the children know that whenever they have a problem, no matter how scary or embarra you will listen, believe, help and protect them from harm.
